Pick a book. Find an essay you bookmarked months ago. Listen to that 2-hour podcast your peers gave up on after 15 minutes.
Long form takes you deep into something. One thing leads to two, and two to four. The cluster is so fascinating that you end up learning an incredible amount about the topic and its periphery. You gain an informed perspective (and sometimes a strong opinion). This helps big time.
It stays with you for a long time. Often, it leads to tangible benefits in your career and life in general. Really tangible. Like money.
But don’t ignore short form.
They are the gateway to long form.
The algorithms favor short forms. The smart folks started favoring them. And your mind loves them too – that’s actually why the algorithm favors them in the first place. So, you can’t avoid them.
Use them as a bridge to long form.
Don’t stay with them. Don’t make them your destination.
